Privacy policy
Last updated 15 October 2026
In short: ChoiceMapNI has no accounts, no forms, no cookies, no tracking and no adverts. The postcodes, points and filters you enter stay in your browser and are never sent to us.
Who we are
ChoiceMapNI (choicemapni.app) is made and run by Adam McBride of Dynumo (opens in a new tab) (“we”). We are responsible for any personal data processed when you use this site. It is an independent project and is not connected to the Northern Ireland Housing Executive.
What stays on your device
- Searches. Postcode and area searches happen in your browser, using a postcode list that is part of the site. What you type is not sent anywhere.
- Your settings. To save you setting them again, the site remembers your chosen office, council, filters, colour option and points in your browser’s local storage. This is not a cookie and is never sent to us. “Clear filters” removes it, or you can clear this site’s data in your browser settings.
- Exports. Spreadsheets and print-outs are created in your browser from the areas you are looking at.
What other companies receive
- Hosting: Cloudflare. The site is served by Cloudflare (opens in a new tab). Like any web server, it processes your IP address, browser details and the pages you request, so it can deliver the site and protect it from attacks. We do not use this information to identify you.
- Street map: OpenStreetMap. The main map loads its street map pictures from the OpenStreetMap Foundation’s servers, so your browser sends them your IP address and the parts of the map you look at. This is covered by the OpenStreetMap Foundation privacy policy (opens in a new tab). The lite version draws its own map and doesn’t contact OpenStreetMap at all.
Fonts and code are served from this site, not from Google or other third parties. Links to other websites, such as the data sources, take you to sites with their own privacy policies.
Analytics
We do not currently use any analytics. If we add them, we will only use Cloudflare Web Analytics (opens in a new tab) or Plausible Analytics (opens in a new tab). Neither uses cookies, collects personal data or follows you across other websites. They count things like pages visited, the site that sent you, your country and type of device, without identifying you. We will update this page before adding them.
Legal basis
The only personal data involved is the technical information your browser sends when it loads the site (see above). It is processed because it is necessary to run the site securely, which is a legitimate interest under UK data protection law.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to ask what personal data we hold about you, and to have it corrected or deleted. Because ChoiceMapNI doesn’t collect personal data itself, there is usually nothing for us to give you, but you can contact us through the Dynumo contact page (opens in a new tab). If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (opens in a new tab).
Changes
If we change how ChoiceMapNI handles data, for example by adding analytics, we will update this page and the date at the top.
